Lunch:
How much does breakfast/lunch cost and what is included?
The cost for Breakfast is $1.00/day or .30/day for reduced breakfast.
Breakfast includes entree, grain, meat/meat alternative, fruit or fruit juice and milk.
The cost for lunch is $1.75/day or .40/day for reduced lunch.
Lunch includes entree, grain, fruit/vegetable, meat/meat alternative and milk.
FYI- Students MUST take everything included with their breakfast/lunch in order to avoid paying for individual items.
What should i do about lunch the first week of school?
The first week of school is a big deal for students to let your child decide if they want to pack their lunch or purchase in the cafeteria. New students will be assigned a lunch number that will be used to purchase lunch. Lunch numbers are assigned on the first day of school and until students memorize their lunch number, cafeteria staff will gladly look up by last name.
What time is lunch?
Lunch is assigned by grade so please check the agenda for your scheduled time.
How can I put money in my child's lunch account?
Once school starts you can add money to the lunch account by using either cash or check in the cafeteria. If you prefer to use a credit card you can sign up for "Cashless School". This allows you to add money from home.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
Yes, parents/grandparents can eat lunch with their child. You do not need to make arrangments in advance with the teacher just check in the front office and head down to the cafeteria during their assigned lunch time.
Parties:
Are siblings allowed to attend class parties?
We are very sorry but siblings are not allowed to attend class parties.
Are homemade goodies allowed?
No. Only store bought food items are allowed.
Classroom:
Can i purchase supplies for my son/daughters teacher?
Yes! The teachers (including "specials") have a teacher wish list located in the front office. You may also purchase gift cards to Staples or Office Depot. The PTA will be selling gift cards on Meet the Teacher day.
Volunteers:
How can I start volunteering?
We love our MPES volunteers and we can't do it without you!
In order to volunteer you must register in the VIPS computer system. Join us for volunteer orientation on September 3rd at 8:15a.m. in the cafeteria and we will get you set up on the computer.
FYI- You must provide your social security number in order to register in the VIPS system. Once your personal information is entered it is sent for a complete background check.
All volunteers must use the VIPS system in order to volunteer. Volunteer hours are tracked on the computer.
All volunteers must enter through the front office to receive an ID label. The ID label is only good for the day it is issued.
When can I start volunteering?
Volunteering will officially begin after volunteer orientation. Teachers will send home forms requesting volunteers and create a calendar for classroom/cafeteria helpers. The calender is submitted to the front office and placed in the "volunteer book".

The front office has a "volunteer book" with a volunteer list from every teacher. The list has the names of every volunteer permitted to volunteer in the classroom or cafeteria on a weekly basis. The list is submitted by the teacher and submitted regularly. In order to volunteer you must be on that list!!! Please understand that the front office can not call the classroom to check on your volunteer status.
